Beads Flower Show

The Beads flower show was held on September 30th and October 1st, 2005. Works were presented by Ms. Sachiko Imamura and her students

Thanksgiving Party

Mr. Rumoldo Layug TESOL Teacher and Professional Chef prepared the Turkey and traditional side dishes. All other guests brought a culinary specialty. We had a very nice time and the food was great.

Caligraphy Class student in Local Newspaper

Kentaro Umemoto (1 st grade)'s calligraphy work was in the Japanese news paper, SHUKAN NEW YORK SEIKATSU on May 21 st , 2005 .
He has been taking calligraphy lessons taught by our director, Mikiko Maneko at our center.
We are happy to hear this news and very proud of him!

A day at Little World in Inuyama, Gifu, Japan

Little World is like Epcot Center in Florida and children go there to learn about the culture, customes and history of different countries. The pictures are contributed by a family which attended this event in Japan and are seen wearing Indian costumes. Please view our photo gallery to see some photos of the Little World.

Branch Brook Park Cherry Blossom Festival

Branch Brook Park is distinguished by being the first county park to be opened for public use in the United States . It has been placed on both the New Jersey (1980) and National (1981) Registers of Historic Places. More than 2,000 cherry trees blossom during April. The park was named after a branch that flowed through the valley into the Passaic River. The park was originally intended to remain for passive recreation.
Branch Brook Park Cherry Blossom Festival was held on April 17th at Branch Brook Park in Newark, New Jersey.
Everyone enjoyed the Japanese performance and exhibits for this annual Hanami. Japanese Classical Dances and Music were performed by Tomofuji Dance Troup. One of their performer was an American 16 year old high school student. He was intrigued by japanese culture and started to participate since he was in 2nd grade.

Remodeling our Center

We have been working very diligently to improve our facility to make it a more welcoming place for all our visitors.
Our New Colors
We met with an interior designer and a lighting designer to create a new color scheme
Our goal: to create an open and welcoming set of spaces.
Different wall colors help identify each space's primary function. Yellows and greens for multi function rooms, linen for common areas and passageways, yellow and wall tile for restrooms. To tie all these spaces together, white trim doors and ceilings. Our ceremonial room will have wood paneling and trim to emphasize the importance and solemnity of activities that will take place in the space.

Visit to the International Preschool in Cortlandt Manor, New York

Scope: To introduce Japanese Culture to children.
Mikiko Kaneko the Director wore the Kimono and we brought chopsticks and very small Japanese muffins. We had the children and teachers practice picking up the muffins with the chop sticks. Mikiko also created three different types of origami and had the children do the same and draw on them.
It was a very successful event.
