Biografias de Nosso Pessoal

It is my great pleasure to greet the members, students, and friends of the NCC family. I have been honored by the welcome so many of you have extended to me since I became the Director of the Nippon Community Center . I feel privileged to be NCC's new Director and look forward to working with all of you.

Advanced technology and the globalization of business allow us to feel that our world is so much smaller today. However, globalization does not have much effect on people's sense of race, religion. Separation is still the norm. Even in the so called “melting pot” of America , new immigrants often cluster by their own ethnicity in identifiable communities.

Race, and religion are essential elements of everyone's identity, and people take pride in their own culture. Above all, people feel safe and comfortable in a familiar environment, and passing down traditional values and culture to the following generations is considered to some responsibility. On the other hand, these drives may help fuel the regional conflicts and religious disputes that have seemed to increase in recent years. Everyone speaks of the importance of mutual understanding and respect, but living it is not easy.

My own experience living for one year in Sweden gave me new recognition of the values in great contrast to my own that can exist in a totally different social environment. Later as a Japanese language teacher, my many discussions on Japanese business, economy, and social issues with students of various occupations and ages from all over the world further broadened my understanding of different perspectives and values. At the same time, these cross cultural experiences provided a mirror for perceiving Japanese society from a new perspective. Ultimately, as I experienced different cultures through my students, the countries they came from became not just foreign countries, but countries of faces and names of people who had enriched my life personally.

I now feel enthusiastic about having the opportunity to play a part in providing cross cultural programs at NCC to enhance multicultural understanding and mutual respect among my friends and neighbors.

I hope to meet many of you during the coming months. I look forward to listening and learning from your experiences and insights and to working with you to shape a shared vision for the future of this exceptional Cultural Center .

Praticar Yoga é uma das maneiras de manter a boa saúde, manter um bom balanço de corpo e mente e melhorar o sistema imune. Yoga não só é conveniente para pessoas que estão fisicamente fracas, mas tambem para pessoas em boa saúde, para ajudá-los a liberar o estrés diário e a continuar mantendo uma boa saúde. As pessoas ficam doente quando perdem balanço. Estive doente 3 anos atrás e tive que encarar o difícil cenário de reanalizar minha vida e minhas maneiras de pensar. A yoga é classificada como uma medicina oriental e representa todos os pequenos cosmos onde todas as partes de corpo trabalham juntas para ajudar o sistema imune. Espero que a yoga seja introduzida para muitas pessoas e que estas possam viver de uma forma natural, feliz e com vidas balanceadas.

Sou de Staten Island, Nova Iorque, logo me mudei para Scarsdale . Danço desde os 2 anos de idade. Participei em Star Struck Dance Company e L.A. Dance's Elite Dancers . Dancei ao vivo em 1992. Venho trabalhando com crianças desde meus 10 anos de idade, como babá e jogando com crianças.

A Cruz Vermelha Americana me certificou como salva-vidas desde que tinha 14 anos. Sou proficiente em C.P.R. e Primeiros Socorros. Como salva-vidas, tive a oportunidade de dar aulas de natação para crianças e participar do Special Olympics (um programa para deficientes físicos). Fui capitã da esquadra de cheerleading na esola secundária por 3 anos. Tambem trabalhei no YMCA local de 1998-2003, ensinando e organizando o programa de ginástica, coordenando aulas de dança e atividades infantis e tambem a pré-escola do YMCA. No YMCA trabalhei com crianças e os ensinei movimentos básicos de ginástica avançada e como equilibar e segurar o peso do próprio corpo.

No programa de dança, ensinei o básico em como avançar movimentos, rotinas coordenadas usando os movimentos aprendidos e consegui com que as crianças se interessasem por música clássica. Tambem participei do J.C.C. de 1997-2005, treinei o time de ginástica para criancinhas e aulas de dança para os mesmos. Recém me formei no Katharine Gibbs College como Assistente Médica Certificada; tambem tenho um diploma de Associados em Artes Liberais de St. John University . Amo preparação física e divertimento, meu objetivo maior é fazer com que as crianças se interessem por atividades físicas, e ajudar a promover um estilo de vida mais saudável e alegre para eles.

Graduada de Tokyo College of Music . Enquanto ensinava piano, música, vocal e coro, ela participou de The Fujiwara Opera ; representou em The Fujiwara Opera, New National Theatre, Tokyo e Shiki Theater Company até o ano de 2000.

Fez parte do elenco de O Fantasma da Ópera, apresentado por Shiki Theatre Company! Atualmente canta
frequentemente em óperas e se apresenta em shows Off-Broadway e musicais principalmente em Nova Iorque.
